Almight圜ow 00:02, 17 November 2011 (UTC) I found the beacon in Honeystrand Cave (also near Ivarstead), which triggered the quest. Quest directed me to the beacon in Soljund's Sinkhole. I went to the shrine and it started the quest. I could not find the beacon in PinePEAK cavern (north of Ivarstead).

I've tried Clairvoyance as well but it just says "no direct route found" no matter where I am. Then I looked up some of the usual errors and discovered the beacon can spawn absolutely anywhere - so I just did the entire Dark Brotherhood questline (not on brand for my character) and it was neither in the Dawnstar Sanctuary nor onboard the Katariah. No quest marker showed up - so I immediately visited Solstheim but alas, nothing there either. On my current run I decided to visit the statue to start the quest and my oh my do I have regrets.
